"The Book of Lies" by Brad Meltzer

As unlikely a pairing as the world has ever known, the juxtaposition of Cain and Superman within a single tale, where the search for the world’s first murder weapon holds the secret to everlasting life, is an unbelievably, believable story one can read again and again.  There are moments where the Superman lore can bog a person down, as it does come hard and fast, but the learning of how the Man of Steel came to be, coupled with the ever-present father/son theme thoroughly permeating the plot, is more than worth the few bumps along the ride.  This is a thrill ride, and it is a supreme success, as the ending is a satisfying conclusion one can take with them after it is done.  Brad Meltzer succeeds where Dan Brown did not.  He provides a thrilling mystery, of age-old significance, with a resolution pleasing to the reader and satisfying to the soul.  I left with a few questions at the end - like ‘the Book of Lies’ itself, I failed to firmly wrap my mind around – but such remains the reason for the all-popular ‘second read’ ”
