"Washington's Lady" by Nancy Moser

I have come to the conclusion any biography of George Washington would not be complete absent the inclusion of his wife Martha.  Her steadfast support, and unwavering faith in a cause of freedom greater than just the two of them, enabled him to become the truly extraordinary man we know him as today.

This was a woman who managed the greatest estate in Virginia, if not the whole of the colonies, at a time when women were given credit for little more than managing the home and raising the children.  She organized her other founding mothers, rendering invaluable aid to George’s men with clothing, medical attention, food and especially the sincere listening ear to those far from their homes and own loved ones.  Though the title was never to her liking, the name these men called her by applied well to the mother of our country.  She was indeed Lady Washington.  Read her story and learn what she and George endured to carry freedom to our own day.”
