I first took notice of this book due to my own friendship with a ‘Vinnie’. I discovered the treasure of this book when I was in the process of searching the Internet for a particular biography of Abraham Lincoln. The name ‘Vinnie Ream’ appeared, causing me to investigate and become astounded at a story I never before heard. Who would have thought the tale of a teenage girl, during the Civil War years, sculpting a bust of President Lincoln was true? But it is, and this fictionalized retelling of it is a wonderful tribute to a name more of us should know.
