"Vanish" by Tom Pawlik

Thankfully, a coworker suggested I ‘Read This!’, otherwise I might have missed out on this venture into Inspirational Suspense, where a story compelling, mysterious, and definitively inspirational is offered to all.  Just where the ‘inspirational’ part would appear was a curiosity in itself, as none of the major characters carried any spiritual substance.  They believed in nothing beyond themselves, which gives them no recourse for aid when aliens pursue them and truth eludes them.  For a time, the plot reads like some B-movie horror show from the 1950s.    Character development is weak, and no one has any plan aside from keep running.

“However, Pawlik’s writing is what maintains reader interest with short, quick chapters that keeps pace with the characters’ flight and a climax absolutely superb.  All makes perfect sense when Howard is revealed and the reality of what has happened to Connor, Mitch, and Helen is made known. Neither preachy nor dogmatic, with faith presented realistically, this is inspiration exceptional.”
